<abstract>This data set consists of 1 foot, natural color orthoimages covering the series area footprint. An orthoimage is remotely sensed image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain relief and sensor orientation have been mathematically removed. Orthoimagery combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. The design accuracy is estimated not to exceed 3-meter diagonal RMSE (2.12m RMSE in X or Y). The tiling scheme for the final dataset is 5,000 ft x 5,000 ft grid blocks rectified to the NAD83 Kentucky Single Zone SPCS (FIPS 1600), US Survey Foot.</abstract>
<purpose>
This data depicts geographic features on the surface of the earth. It was created to provide easily accessible geospatial data which is readily available to enhance the capability of Federal, State, and local emergency responders, as well as plan for homeland security efforts. This data also supports The National Map.
</purpose>
<supplinf>
This imagery was originally provided by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and published with 0.3-meter pixel resolution on the NAD83 UTM Zone 16 meters projection in 1500 x 1500 meter tiles. The original tile naming scheme was based on the United States National Grid (USNG) as applied to the lower left (southwest) corner of each tile.
The original UTM/USNG imagery was re-projected to the NAD83 Kentucky Single Zone SPCS (KY1Z) USFt in 5,000 ft x 5,000 ft (5K) tiles. Image resampling during the re-projection process was accomplished using bilinear interpolation and pixel size resampling was accomplished using nearest neighbor interpolation. The JPEG version of this dataset was created using Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 with a quality setting of 12 (PS-JPG 12). NODATA artifacts generated during image re-projection were removed by replacing NODATA pixels with values derived by averaging neighboring non-NODATA pixels.
